This year both Mrs. McCarthy and Mr. Reynolds have been working with Khan Academy in their classroom. This program allows students to watch videos on lessons taught in class and review them at their own pace. The website has been around since 2006, but new this year is the ability for teachers to be coaches. This helps students focus on the exact videos that teachers want them to watch, and, in turn, the teachers can answer questions and view how long students have watched the videos. Eventually, students will be able to create their own similar videos to share in class.
Students have also been using the app "Desmos" as a graphing calculator. This app has a lot of features that allow students to move the graphs by picture and by equation. It allows the student to change the color of the graphed equation and to set boundaries for it. This has really helped students distinguish the difference between domain and range.
