3rd Grade
In Mrs. Nelson's 3rd grade, students have the opportunity to do additional research in all subjects especially Science, Social Studies, and Math. Students use a variety of sources and Mrs. Nelson reinforces what it means to be reliable, especially when students are using YouTube. Here, students are pictured with the information that they found on animal adaptations.
Students also use the iPad to help understand fractions better. When setting it up as a document camera, all the students can see the number strips that are being manipulated. Students can take turns sharing their ideas and can allow the entire class to see those ideas displayed on the Smartboard.
Students are pictured here in Mrs. Rae's classroom using the iPads in their math rotations. The students have the opportunity to work individually with instantaneous feedback. There are many games that help them improve their multiplication and division facts as well as practice questions that are from the Common Core curriculum.
Also pictured is a student up at the SmartBoard. Every new math concept is introduced with a video about the concept and a chance for the students to work together as a class to solve problems. This interactive style of teaching allows all students to participate and see different methods/ideas of students in the classroom.
